Funeral for a Friend have revealed that the first song from their forthcoming self-released album will be called Waterfront Dance Club. They are asking fans in Greater London to be extras in their forthcoming video on their MySpace.

NME band-of-the-week Crystal Castles have been accused of stealing from chip-tune artists who make their music available for free non-commercial use online

Dirty Pretty Things have made Hippy Son from their forthcoming second album Romance At Short Notice as a free download from their website. The single will be released on 23 June, prior to the album’s release on the 30.

Beck has signed up to indie record label XL Recordings in the UK for his forthcoming album. As previously mentioned, the 10-track DJ Dangermouse-produced album is coming out this summer.

Two members of the original lineup of Gang of Four, who reformed in 2005, have left once again. Drummer Hugo Burnham and bassist Dave Allen have left to focus on other projects, leaving singer Jon King and guitarist Andy Gill continuing to work on new projects under the Gang of Four name.

The Police have announced that their reunion will end with a final concert in New York City. Reunited last year, they will play their final UK show on 29 June.

CreateSpace, owned by Amazon.com, have announced they’re partnering with EMI and Sony BMG to create on-demand CDs for out-of-print and digital-only music. This is currently US-only but given Amazon’s success worldwide is likely to eventually be rolled out in the UK.

Pete Doherty, singer from Babyshambles and formerly of The Libertines, has been released from Wormwood Scrubs prison having served 29 days of a 14 week jail sentence. The band will be playing the Glastonbury Festival this summer.

The new guitarist to New York-based pop-punk band Taking Back Sunday has been announced. Matt Fazzi, formerly of Facing New York, will be replacing Fred Mascherino, who left to do his solo project The Color Fred. For more details, see Taking Back Sunday’s site. Taking Back Sunday will be playing the main stage of the Reading and Leeds Festivals this summer.
